Pulling off a last-minute charter for a Greek orchestra
A travel agent working for the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra in Greece needed our help transporting 100 passengers and their instruments – including six oversized cellos needing their own seats – to a performance in Romania on a budget. The original airline had pulled out just two days before the concert, so a speedy solution was essential to get them there in time.
Our Solution
Route: Thessaloniki > Bucharest > Thessaloniki
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800
We knew it would be difficult to secure a group booking on a commercial flight, as the orchestra were travelling on a weekend during the busy summer season, so we recommended an aircraft charter as the most efficient option.
Despite the short notice, it only took us a few hours to find the ideal solution. Reaching out to our extensive list of operator contacts, we sourced a locally-based Boeing 737-800 with last-minute availability. The narrowbody aircraft business jet was the perfect size for the musicians and their equipment, with enough seats for all the passengers as well as the bulky cellos.
The flight departed smoothly and the orchestra arrived in Romania with plenty of time to get set up for their performance.
